  • Initial setup
A Virtual Airline for MSFS, X-Plane and P3D – Powered by FsHub What is it? FireFly Air is the virtual airline of the twotonemurphy community. It uses the amazing free infrastructure of FsHub which is a simple, free to use website and is designed to work alongside the freeware Landing Rate Monitor (LRM) on your PC or let you generate manual entries via a PIREP for Xbox. What can it do? Track, record and review your flights View landing rates Generate virtual experience points with the new economy mode. Upload screenshots of your flight which can include geo-tagging. LRM? LRM monitors your flight progress, it can display your takeoff/landing data right onto your screen and sends this data to FsHub for your FireFly Air career! LRM features an EFB tab via a browser, a "Radar" to see where others are flying and some custom audio announcements like clapping in the cabin, when you butter those landings or, well, not so butter them. For Xbox Pilots, we also have your covered! You can manually submit a PIREP (pilots report) to Firefly Air and we can add this data to your profile. With the new Economy Mode, you can now generate experience points by flying special events and some scheduled Company Routes. There are no restrictions on aircraft types and with a number of events and routes already created, you are sure to have fun flying with FireFly Air. Step 1 Click button to register with FShub Once registered apply to Firefly Air , you should be accepted fairly quickly Murph will get an email and will activate your account as soon as possible. If there are any delays, you can send him a message on Discord Step 2 Download the Landing Rate Monitor (LRM). There are 2 LRM clients, one using FSUIPC which is a legacy way to install it, or a Beta version of the a new SimConnect based LRM client. Steps for both are listed below, FSUIPC (2a) and Simconnect (2b). Step 2a USING FSUIPC: Once installed, link LRM to FsHub via the Preferences Menu, located under Edit in the top menu ribbon, your setting should look like the below. Once you have been excepted by FFA re-sync your profile. To SYNC/ RE- SYNC In the second screenshot below press the SYNC button, this will add any airlines you are part to the dropdown (where Firefly Air is in the screenshot) You should then be able to select FFA using the drop down. If you have selected the airline correctly it will look like this. Connected at the bottom will only appear after you have installed FSUIPC LRM requires you to have FSUIPC or XPUIPC installed which you can get from below links, it will directly download to your computer. Once downloaded run it and LRM and you should see connected in the main LRM window if it worked correctly. Or Step 2b USING SIMCONNECT: A short tutorial video was created to walk through the steps involved in setting up LRM using the beta SimConnect client here: Every completed flight report will be sent to the FireFly-Air channel on the TTM Discord so we can also keep track of things there. This concept is to encourage our community members to fly together, have fun and compete for achievements, the smoothest landings and the most virtual miles flown! We have a number of hubs located throughout the world which are available to view on our airline map linked below Step 3 XBOX PILOTS ONLY Once you have signed up to Firefly Air, you can now access the Crew Portal. From here, select PIREP and submit the information into the fields and submit - we look after the rest! Would you like to fly in the company colours, or pick-up one of other exclusive add-ons no problem click the picture below to see if we have something you like.
  • Step 1 (Before your flight)
We are presuming you have followed the guide under getting started here or got set-up yourself with FShub, got all relevant software and been accepted to FFA Make sure LRM looks like the below picture, if it doesn't select Firefly Air from the drop down. The first time you need to sync LRM to add FFA to your drop-down list Once FFA isselected make sure you are connected If you are not connected restarting LRM or if that doesn't work you could also try right clicking on the icon for LRM and running as admin Then Go to Crew portal
  • Step 2 ( Choosing a Flight)
Go to Crew portal and select browse routes Once at browse route page select a short flight use the filter settings below as example Pick a short flight in my case I'm choosing FFA3169 Open the flight details by clicking on the flight card You can just fly the from KTVL to KCXP and as long as you take-off from and land at the right airport you will get XP52. If you want to see your flight on the airline radar or use the aeropad with details you can also use the flight planner
  • Step 3 Flight Planner (Optional)
There are many different ways to get to the FShub flight planner but below you see you can get there by clicking on your name and then clicking on My Flight Plan The below window will open fill in the detail from your flight e.g Callsign, Cruise altitude, route can be as simple as EIDW EGGP or you can put in more points (note this is not a true flight planner so may not register all of your info on the produced flight plan) Save and set as active Then from the same menu you selected the flight planner you can select GPS tracker and track your flight and you can also see your flight and its details on the airline radar Flight Planner Airline Radar Pilot GPS
  • Step 4 Review and confirmation
Ok so you have completed the flight lets check a few things Go My Dashboard and confirm the flight was recorded View the flight details and confirm it is recorded as company route Looks like you have been successful, time to investigate more , remember there is always someone willing to help in our FFA Chat on discord
  • Your profile Page
Once you login you will greeted with your profile page, most of this is self-explanatory, have a look around. I always run LRM regardless of whether I'm doing a company route or achievement, it gives so much more than the logbook in MSFS, see just a few examples below. Main Profile page The detail captured on a flight Advanced Stats Page
  • Firefly Air Hub
Once you have been accepted by Firefly Air you will have access to the Airline Hub and Crew Portal, from your Profile page just click the Firefly Air link down on the bottom left Here you have a number of options Pilot XP Your total pilot Xp (you won't see Airline XP) Airline Profile Takes you to the airline main page with links to Twitch,Discord, etc Airline Staff List of Pilots with a clickable link to their Profile Airline Radar Map of all pilots who are online, and routes if filed Airline Flights All airline flights, company routes or ad-hoc completely by our community Browse Routes Will be discuss in more detail on a separate menu item Duty Schedule Will be discuss in more detail on a separate menu item Staff Room Takes you to our discord Achievements All airline achievements both completed and to be completed Manual PIREP For filing a flight manually, mainly used by XBOX pilots but can also be used by people who have a CTD's or other issues with flight recording using LRM 11. Resign Don't know what this button does😁
  • Browse Routes and Route Map (how to find what you are looking for)
So when you first join the airline or even if you are around a while you may not know everything about company routes and how best to find what you are looking for. Below you will see a few tips to help. Scoring Company Route XP is based on distance, so for a 100nm route we use the follow 100nm/10=10+50 bonus so grand total 60XP For every flight you fly, company or not, you get 1XP for every 10nm flown. So for a non company route you would 10XP for 100nm flight, in the example above you would also get this additional XP The weekly flight which we notam out here unusually has a extra bonus so worth more than the distance calc You also receive a bonus for flying into or out of a hub of 10XP which applies to any flight in and out of a hub. Company Route Hub Above you can see our route hub with button for the route map. If you just want to find a flight out of one of the hubs, just select it from departure airport. By default it will sort by Name (Flt No) so for EIDW that would be FFA1001. You can change to sort by a number of different criteria and also by Ascending or Descending Name (Fly No) Distance e.g, if you only want to fly a short route you might want to sort by this and then ascending Experience Points (XP) you may want to make some quick points so you would sort by this and descending and you would get the best paying routes Arrival/Departure ICAO will only work where you don't select a hub and as come across a hub in the results you obiviosly will have a lot of flights for that airport to scroll past Date Created and Last Updated or not particularly useful but by all means try them Did you know we have various ad-hoc routes all around the world in some amazing location, just sort by Name and descending. They all begin with FFA99XX Company Route Map The company route map can be a bit overwhelming when you open it first but used properly it can be good way to find routes you haven't flown. Functions Zoom either with your mouse wheel or with the buttons on the map Press the square below the zoom in/out buttons to make the map full screen Hover over any airport to see the ICAO Click on any airport to only see the routes to/from that airfield Hubs are highlighted with a white icon As well as the Stats on the Stats console we also have a look up for routes which can be easier to use than FShub if you are looking for something in particular, give it a try Just go the last button on the Stats Home Page
  • Duty Schedules
The duty schedule is probably one of the best features of FShub and is the best way to earn XP. It is also the best way to see new places, places you wouldn't normally go. Today I decide to fly out of Rio, I did a few back and forths out of Rio then the duty schedule sent me from one of the outstations to SDTK Parati just down the coast from Rio, would I have picked this place, probably not but just look at how great it is. We have over 790 destinations and climbing, why not throw the dice and see where you end up, How does it work and what you need to know The first thing to know is the duty schedule is based off a speed of 300nm an hour so if you are flying an aircraft that is faster than 300nm per hour you need to put in more hours and less if you are flying a aircraft that is slower than 250nm. You have 24hr to completing schedule so if you intend on flying 2hr today and 2hrs tomorrow and it is with 24hrs, when generating your schedule you should put in 4hrs in the creator and more if you have a faster aircraft There is no penalty for not completing a schedule but it will not be counted on your profile unless completed Airport of departure is important but you don't have to start from a hub, you can start from one of the out stations. You must make sure if you are starting from an outstation that your maximum distance is enough to get you back to the hub and you give enough time e.g if you are in an outstation 600nm from the hub you would need to probably put 3 hr hour in and a distance of 601nm as your max, this would get you back to the hub and on to another route. You can use distance to nearly pick your route if you know the FShub distance of the flight you want to fly. You want to do this route You would enter Departure EIDW Hours 2 Minimum Distance 241 Maximum Distance 243 Hit the button, may take a couple of goes and if there is another route out of EGLL at 242nm or below it might send you off there but isn't that half the fun. Daily Schedule Bonus Scoring is simple enough, see below for each leg you get a increase by 25% multiplier bonus of the route XP, below I am getting 25% on Route 1 50% on Route 2 75% on Route 3 100% on Route 4 This continue for the number of legs you have if you have 8 on the last leg you will get 200% multiplier.
  • Achievements
Achievements is another way to earn XP and also pick up an achievement badge. They tend to have a theme and it's another reason to fly, if XP isn't your thing. Because they are hand created, in most case they will be based on one of the following Hard to land at airfield Scenic Area Handcrafted Airport Based on real flights, Based on current event Back story to your flying New Aircraft World Updates And anything else we can think of We also use them for special events that Murph plans like D-Day Remembrance or to support Murph's streams so you as a firefly even if you can't fly on the night at least you can still fly the route and get the achievement. As well our our achievements there is also another load on FShub Firefly Air Achievements FsHub Achievements We are always adding to them so keep an eye on the FireFly Air Notam channel, the latest count is 70 single and 43 multi achievements
  • Tip and tricks
Tips 1 Before starting any flight make sure you are connect using LRM and its is showing Firefly Air in the Profile Box I personnel use ADD-on linker to start my sim and a number of other things including LRM and FSUIPC To use ADD-on Linker go to start program (any you want) go tool then options and then the additional options tab here is mine as an example Once you have this done to start whatever you have in the list just hit the play icon on the right of your icon list Tip 2 Duty schedules last for 24 hrs so remember that when setting up the number of hrs you are going to fly. Tip 3 If you land at airport and FShub picks up the wrong airport, you can edit the flight record to the correct airport if it is in range and in FShub, this works for achievements and company routes but not duty schedules. Tip 6 You can update certain details of your flight, on the flight details page, just hit the edit flight button e.g, sometimes the aircraft may not be recognized due a new livery be careful once you do it any time using that livery it will recorded as whatever you pick, you can also update the airport to somewhere within range of where you landed.
  • Issues and Help
Some Helpful Resources FShub Discord These guys are super helpful and have an area to post questions FShub Help This has links to their Wiki, FAQ's and Open a ticket Firefly Air Chat there is always someone knocking around willing to try and help and the admins monitor this channel as well Issue 1 I landed at an airport and FShub recorded somewhere else or I see information that is wrong. If you are sure FShub is wrong you should report the issue using the report link with what you believe to be wrong, the more info you can give the easier it is for their team to fix. In this example EICR has United Kingdom instead of Ireland as the country. I hit the report them link I just hit the report then link on the airport page and fill in the box below with the issue, simple. The issue is not necessarily as straightforward as this but the guys can't fix it unless you report it. It could be there is old airport data registered for the flight or there is a another airport very close which it has used. Issue 2 My flight wasn't recorded or isn't showing on the airline flight list Make sure your LRM looks like the below screenshot e.g. connected and Firefly Air selected Issue 3 I completed a flight but didn't get the achievement Make sure the flight was recorded correctly like origin and destination You compiled with any requirements like FPM , aircraft type etc You had Firefly Air selected in LRM If you still have an issue ask on FFA chat with your flight details, if we can't help, you could ask on FShub discord Issue 4 I want to do an achievement but haven't got one of the airports. This won't really happen for Firefly Air but may happen with FShub daily challenge, which you can find on the FShub achievement page Possible Solutions See if you can download the airport from somewhere Find where it is and land there , regardless of whether you have the airport or not FShub will register the landing if you land in the right place.
  • The Stats Console
This where all our data we track lives as well as tables for XP and other measures, all which are used to decide who has a vote for the next hub. FireAir Stats Console We are going to have a look at two of these to see how they work The league tables, usually update twice a week and it contains all flights with XP, company route, achievement or free flight. The league runs from the date in the top box usually until we have enough company XP to open a new hub The XP League The top 3 from each table get a vote for the next HUB Once a league is over the Top 3 from each is promoted and the bottom 3 from each league are demoted. The NON XP Leagues The first thing to say is you only get one vote so if you already got a vote from the XP leagues or are getting a vote from more than 1 Non XP table, we will use the next person down in the particular table. As the name suggest these are based on other measures besides XP and can be seen below. You don't need to do company routes to get on these tables; The only thing you need to do is fly for Firefly Air in LRM.
